NEW DELHI: After giving telecom operators in the country a run for their money, Reliance Jio seems set to make competition tough for Indian and Chinese smartphone brands offering cheap handsets. The company is said to be planning to launch 4G VoLTE-enabled feature phones priced between Rs 999 and Rs 1,500.
Now, a user named @rajathkumarkr has shared the image of what is claimed to be the upcoming Reliance Jio's feature phone. The image shows how the alleged feature phone supporting 4g VoLTE may look like.
The smartphone seen in the image has four buttons on top with 'Jio' buttons. The buttons seem to give one click access to MyJio, JioTV, JioCinema and JioMusic applications. There is also an alphanumeric keyboard along with a home button placed just below the 'Jio' keys.
The user has not shared any other information about the device except that it will be priced at Rs 1,500. From the image shared, it looks like that the device is a testing unit.
According to a recent report, Reliance Jio feature phones are said to come with front-facing and rear cameras. With the upcoming ultra-budget feature phone, Reliance Jio aims to penetrate deeper in the Indian market. According to previous reports, the feature phones by Reliance are also said to come powered by Spreadtrum chipset.
Reliance already has its Lyf-branded smartphones in the market. The cheapest Lyf-branded samrtphone is priced at Rs 2,999.
